Programme Analyst, Generation Equality Vacancy Job Ref: VACUNWOMEN1831-14
UN Women
Background
The 1995 Beijing Platform for Action, adopted by 189 governments, is the world’s largest initiative for gender equality.
It aims to ensure that every woman and girl can exercise her rights and freedoms. In 2020, despite progress, change remains slow for the majority of women and girls. UN Women is leading the Generation Equality campaign to accelerate this progress.
The campaign calls for equal pay, equal sharing of domestic work, an end to gender-based violence, adequate health services and equal participation of women in politics.
In March 2021, the Generation Equality Forum launched a five-year action programme, led by six issue-based coalitions, to make irreversible progress on gender equality and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In Côte d’Ivoire, the campaign was launched on 11 June 2021, placing young people at the heart of the national mobilization for gender equality. A “Generation Equality” university caravan mobilized young people around the Action Coalitions, with Gender Clubs as the main leaders.
